This one began between two graphic designers. Karima Bidar and Nastasia Godefroy share a way of working: a love of raw material, a taste for shapes that refuse to behave, and no patience for the obvious.
Two studios, one dialect
Pot au Feu works in ceramic, ISLI in leather and metal. Different materials, different constraints, but the drawing turned out to be the same. Curves that link into one another. Handles that stop being handles and become part of the composition. Volumes that answer each other instead of repeating.
Working across two crafts forced both sides to explain their reflexes. What is easy in leather is impossible in clay, and the reverse. The pieces that came out of it belong to both studios at once, and entirely to neither.
Made in Paris, in small numbers
The series was produced in Paris. Ceramic does not allow shortcuts: each piece is thrown, dried, fired and glazed, and the kiln has the final word on the colour. Small variations are part of the result rather than a defect to be corrected.
Add a palette applied without restraint, and the objects land somewhere between tableware and sculpture. Each one is unique.
Why it mattered to us
ISLI is a circular design studio, and collaboration is not decoration for us: it is how the work advances. Co-creating with someone whose material we do not master is the surest way to leave our own habits behind.
