Daring your first pair of graphic earrings

Daring your first pair of graphic earrings

On a stand, or when meeting the studio, one sentence keeps coming back:

« I love them, but I would never dare wear them. »

And yet earrings that draw the eye are often easier to adopt than you imagine. It is a matter of finding the right balance between the shape, the colour and the way you want to wear them.

Size does not determine comfort

A large earring is not necessarily a heavy one.

What the lobe feels is not the surface of the piece, but its weight. A generous shape made in a light material can therefore be more comfortable than a small, dense earring.

ISLI earrings are made by hand in Paris, in particular from poplar wood, chosen for its lightness. They can take up space in a silhouette without weighing the way a solid piece of jewellery would.

Before judging a pair by its dimensions, pick it up and try it on.

Finding the right proportion

The shape of an earring changes according to where it stops.

A long piece creates a vertical line and follows the movement of the face. A shorter shape concentrates colour around the ear and the cheekbone.

There is no universal rule based on face shape. What matters most is how the pair speaks to your features, your hair and the way you hold yourself.

Simply hold it near your face before choosing. The right proportion is often the one that feels immediately natural, even when the shape is bold.

Letting the pair take its place

A graphic earring can become the starting point of an outfit.

With a simple neckline, hair tied back or tucked behind one ear, it naturally draws the eye without needing other imposing jewellery alongside it.

But colour can also call for colour. A vivid pair can be worn with an equally expressive silhouette, letting shapes, prints and contrasts speak to each other.

It is not necessarily about doing less, but about choosing a clear intention.

Start with a colour you already know

For a first pair, look at the colours already in your wardrobe.

You can choose a familiar shade, easy to combine, or a contrasting colour that transforms a simple silhouette. A bright pink earring does not say the same thing with a white shirt as with a red jumper, but both pairings can work.

The easiest colour to wear is often the one you already love, but had not yet dared to place near your face.

Where to start at ISLI?

The Sunny Hoops take the familiar shape of the hoop in a more graphic, colourful and lightweight reading. They are a natural first step towards ISLI volumes.

The Boldy assert their presence more, with frank shapes and more intense colour pairings.

You can also compose your own pair by choosing the shapes and colours that suit you. Matching or mismatched, the earrings then become a personal combination, to make evolve as you please.
