ISLI is represented at the MUDAM store in Luxembourg, the shop of the Musee d'Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean.

A different question

A fashion floor asks whether an object will sell. A museum shop asks whether it belongs next to the exhibition, which is not the same thing at all.

The pieces that work in that context are the ones that hold up as objects: a construction you can read at a glance, a silhouette that means something without a label explaining it, a colour chosen rather than trend-tested.

Why it matters to a studio like ours

Because it places the work inside a conversation about design rather than only about accessories.

Moroccan craftsmanship is often received as folklore, presented as heritage to be admired at a distance. Sitting in a contemporary art institution says something plainer: this is design, made now, by people who are alive and working.

The object that travels best

Unsurprisingly, it is the Toubkal. A triangle, a circle cut into it, and nothing else. Nothing about it needs translating.

The embossed mark on the front is the only branding on the bag, and it is deliberately hard to see. An object that has to shout its name is not finished.
